FMC OTI & NVOCC
Licensed ocean transportation intermediary and non-vessel operating common carrier for US trades, bonded and tariff-published.
Bayline is a freight forwarder built on one idea: a single coordinator owns your file from quote to proof of delivery — and you always know exactly who that is.
The industry has spent a decade building dashboards. They are useful. But a dashboard has never once called a carrier at 6am to save a sailing, or noticed that an HS code was going to trigger a hold three weeks before the vessel arrived.
What actually moves freight is a person who knows your account, answers the phone, and has the authority to fix the problem in front of them without escalating it to someone in another timezone.
So we keep our book deliberately small. Fewer clients per coordinator means the person handling your shipment has the room to notice things. That is the entire strategy, and it is the reason we will occasionally tell you we are not the right fit for a piece of business.
We operate from Toronto, Ontario and Batavia, Illinois. That is not a vanity address list — it means we file customs entries into both CBSA and US Customs, and the same coordinator handles both sides of a cross-border move. The seam between a Canadian broker and an American one is where a lot of shipments lose days, and we removed it.
Batavia also puts our US warehousing inside the largest inland rail hub in North America, which matters more than it sounds for anyone distributing across the Midwest.
An all-in rate within one business day, and a reply to any live shipment question the same day it is asked.
Every charge on your invoice was either on your quote or explained to you before it was incurred. No exceptions.
Delays, rolls, holds and exams get reported the moment we see them, with options attached — never buried.
If ocean beats air, or you do not need the service you asked for, we will say so even when it costs us the booking.
