Terms & Trading Conditions
Last updated: August 2026.
Standard trading conditions
All business is undertaken subject to the Standard Trading Conditions of the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) for Canadian-origin business, and to our published terms for United States business. These conditions limit our liability. A full copy is available on request and is provided with every booking confirmation.
Quotations
Rates quoted are valid for the period stated on the quotation and are based on the information you supply. Changes to weight, volume, commodity, packing or timing may change the rate. Carrier surcharges outside our control — bunker adjustment, currency adjustment, peak season and congestion surcharges — may vary between quotation and shipment; where they do, we will tell you before they are incurred wherever it is practical to do so.
Insurance
Carrier liability is limited by international convention and is generally far below the commercial value of cargo. We strongly recommend all-risk marine cargo insurance, which we can arrange. Cargo moves uninsured unless you instruct us in writing to arrange cover.
Customs
You remain the importer of record and are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide for customs purposes, including classification, valuation and origin. We will advise and prepare entries on your behalf, but we cannot warrant a classification against information we were not given.
Payment
Terms are stated on your invoice. Cargo may be held against unpaid charges where our trading conditions permit a lien.
Website
Transit times, lane information and service descriptions on this website are indicative and do not form part of any contract. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance.
Note: this is a starting draft, not legal advice. Have a transport lawyer review it — and confirm your CIFFA standard trading conditions are properly incorporated — before relying on it.
